I am happy to report that we had a very successful field trip to Historic New Castle. The students were able to take part in many activities that children long ago participated in. We visited the Reed House, the Courthouse, the Amstel House and the Dutch House. We had a great day! Thanks so much to the chaperones who lended a hand; Mrs. Fitzsimons, Mr. Sye, and Ms. Cain.
We are looking forward to our next field trip to Coverdale Farm, on May 8th.

Welcome Parents,
I am very happy to report that we have finished our first week of our Second Grade, DSTP. This week the student’s completed testing in math. They ALL worked very hard to do their very best. I am extremely proud of ALL of my students.
Next week we will begin our DSTP in reading. Please, remember to have your child in bed early during this week. They need plenty of sleep so they may function at their best. Please, take any extra time you have to read with your child.

We have been having a wonderful time learning during these first weeks of school. During this time, we are becoming familiar with one another and our new surroundings. We have been working very hard to learn the classroom rules and expectations. We have all been doing a fantastic job! Thank you again for all of the support you give your child, they are working very hard.
Please remember, Open House is Tuesday, September 16, 2008. I looking forward to introducing our curriculum to each of you then. It is important to know that this will be a time to obtain information about how the classroom routines work and not a time for individual conferences.
